Road to the future: Darlington Borough Council trialling sustainable asphalt solutions with NappiCycle pellets Rainton Construction has partnered with Darlington Borough Council to test a ground-breaking surfacing solution. The trial at Snipe Lane incorporated pellets made from plastic nappy fibres into the asphalt which was used to surface the road. (more…)

Furthermore, with 3 billion (yes, billion!) nappies being thrown away into landfill annually, it highlights the importance of finding a viable alternative to nappies being left to rot, with nappies sometimes taking as long as 500 years to fully decompose. It has been well-documented over the last few weeks that there was a collection of shipping containers that have been washing up from a recent spillage in the Bristol Channel. Over 300,000 disposable nappies processed!

Community

Over 300,000 disposable nappies (equivalent) processed each week at our South Wales site According to accepted statistics, the average weight of a used disposable nappy is around 195g. Over the first two and a half years of a child’s life, an average child will use approximately 4.16 nappies per day, thereby generating around 6kg of nappy waste per week - or 780kgs within these first few years.
