Natural UK & NappiCycle headline sponsor of the Welsh Sustainability Awards 2023, showcasing the great green initiatives across the NHS in Swansea Bay & Hywel Dda University Health Boards.
We also featured within the awards themselves, through our participation in a recent nappy recycling trial to both boost recycling rates and reduce the carbon footprint of the NHS. Hywel Dda University Health Board are committed to improving recycling rates across the whole of its estate, as well as meeting its commitments to Welsh Governments ‘Toward Zero Waste plan’ and ‘The Waste Circular Economy Strategy’.
In partnership with Natural UK & NappiCycle, Hywel Dda University Health Board trialled a nappy recycling project in the neo-natal and creche facilities at Glangwili General Hospital. This stream was separated from the normal yellow and black ‘Tiger’ bags and sent to us in purple bags, including items such as nappy sacks, baby wipes, hand towels, plastic gloves, plastic gowns, sanitary products, as well as the nappies themselves. The success of this trial guaranteed their inclusion in the inaugural Welsh Sustainability Awards 2023.
